Mirik
is being developed as a hill resort.
It is 55 kms from Siliguri. The town
is centered around the Sumendu Lake.
Landscaped gardens, the tourism
department cottages and boating
facilities have made Mirik an
attractive resort town. Mirik is
1767 m above sea level.
Being promoted
as a New Hill Station, Mirik is a a
small valley in Sing-lila hills
region, about 50 Km. From both
Siliguri and Darjeeling at an
altitude of 1767 m . Weather is very
pleasant here. The lake is the main
attraction here and there is a 3.5
Km. Path around it. You can boating
here . And the dense forest of pine,
cardamom and the orange will
definitely captivate your heart.
Another attraction of Mirik is
Pashupatinagar in the border of
Nepal.
The climate of Mirik is very
pleasant and the temperature rarely
crosses 30 degrees during the
summers. But the winters are very
cold. Accommodation in Mirik is good
and cheap with hotels concentrated
near the Mirik lake.

The
Sumendu Lake
The
major attraction of Mirik. The arch
bridge across the lake is 80 ft.
long. Boating and fishing are two of
the most popular pastimes here.
Rameetay Dara
A viewpoint from where one can get a
sweeping view of the plains and the
mountains. Sunrise and sunset seen
from this point are unforgettable
sights.

Another observation point offering a
panoramic view of the plains, the
hills and the peaks.
Rai
Dhap
An ideal picnic spot. The source of
drinking water for the whole of
Mirik.
Debi
Sthan
The revered Hindu temple, the Singha
Devi Mandir is on the western bank
of the lake.
Mirik is surrounded by some of the
best teagardens of the region.
Thurbo tea Estate, one of the best
known, is only 2 km from Mirik. One
can visit the factory to see tea
being processed.
You will be welcomed by perpetual
sunshine, wild flowers, in delicate
pinks and blues, a fascinating
alpine setting, and warm, shy smiles
of a people disarmingly unmindful of
the more urbane tensions.
On the western bank of the lake is
the Debisthan with its Singha Devi
mandir.
Mirik has several view points like
Ramitey Dara and Deosi Dara which
offer spectacular views of the
eastern Himalayan ranges. Mirik
also has tea gardens, orange
orchards and cardamom groves.
