India
- the land to travel to, a haven of tourism delights,
a civilization to tour through. Tourists come to India
for its wealth of sights, cultural exuberance,
diversity of terrain and in search of that special
something, an extra punch that only India promises and
delivers. Teeming with over a billion people who voice
over a million concerns in fifteen hundred different
languages, India is where people live with variety,
thrive on diversity and are too familiar with
largeness to let it boggle them. Mud huts and mansions
face off across city streets. Lurid luxury and limp
living are inhabitants of the same lane.

The trek to Kedarnath (3584 m)
starts from the road head at Gaurikund. At
Gaurikund, there is a hot water sulphur spring
where one can have a bath. Gaurikund to
Rambara, the trek winds along the river
Mandakini initially a little steep then
gradually climbing through the forest across
beautiful waterfalls enroute. On seeing the
water falls that milky waters are gushing down
from the heavens. From here the trek to
Rambara village is gradual. Rambara to Garur
Chatti is a climb for 5 kms and then one
arrives to Kedarnath. Kedarnath to Vasukital
for the first phase is a continuous ascent
along a goat trek on grassy slope on the West
Kedarnath. The view of Chaukhambha peaks and
Mandakini valley is wonderful from here. The
trek from Vasuki top is down hill for one km
to the Vasuki Tal.
Vasuki Tal is about 1 km in radius with
glittering clear waters by snow-capped peaks.
From here to Paian Tal, north west of Vasuki
Tal is about 1 km on rocky surface. The lake
is more beautiful and at the bottom of the
lake, one can see rectangular stack of rocks,
as if placed there intentionally. From
Kedarnath to Vasuki Tal services of a guide
are most essential. The best season to visit
this lake is from May to September.
Kedarnath-Vasuki
Tal Trek- Kedarnath is at an altitude of 3584
m. A magnificent temple was built by the
Pandavas at the base of Kedarnath Peak's
south-eastern face, and millions of pilgrims
now come to offer their prayers to Lord Shiva
here.
The
Himalayas have been revered as the abode of
divinity, since the dawn of Indian religious
thought. Several venerated pilgrimage sites
dot the foothills and the peaks of the
Himalayas. The Ganges, revered as a holy river
originates in the glaciers in the
unsurmountable heights of the mighty Himalayan
ranges. Most noteworthy of the Himalayan
pilgrimage sites are Badrinath and Kedarnath.
